Keys

79.jpgBe careful when entrusting someone a replica of your set of keys to your apartment. Be sure that person is someone you have faith in. If by accident, you misplace your keys or find out that your keys are in the hands of someone you be suspicious of, get in touch with your landlord and ask for a new set of locks. There might be a small charge for this repair but at least you’ll have some peace of mind. If you happen to live in a smaller building or have your own entry, be wary at all times. Take your apartment key in your hand as you come near to your apartment entrance at any time of day. You are more defenseless when you are probing your keys at your doorstep.

Curtains vs. Blinds

Here’s one interior design issue that is big, in my opinion. Would you go for curtains or blinds?

Draping the windows with curtains or blinds can be a difficult decision. Curtains can give you that natural look, and contribute to the elegance of any room. Blinds, on the other hand, are both functional and decorative.

In deciding, it’s best to consider your own personal tastes. Though curtains and blinds are generally attuned to both sexes, women commonly prefer curtains. Men, on the other hand, are inclined to choose blinds because of the perceived masculinity and efficiency.

In the end however, aesthetics is often not as important as functionality. So long as what you hang on your window serves its purpose, the choice between curtains and blinds becomes of less importance.

Going for the Secure Buildings

March 21, 2008 on 7:00 am | In Tips | Comments Off

When shopping for a condo, go for the buildings that are secure. Most condominium complexes these days are like serviced hotels. These have lobbies with receptionists and security personnel. That way, the staff can make sure that only residents or their legitimate visitors can go about the building. Otherwise, you might have strangers coming up your floor without you knowing.

Sure, you can lock your door, but the fact that potential crooks can access even just your floor makes it easy for them to do all sorts of mischief.

Market for condominiums blossomed in ‘07

March 15, 2008 on 2:53 am | In Information | Comments Off

Condominium living has been the real estate market trend.  It should be, now with land becoming too limited a resource for the city dwellers. If you’re thinking about buying an urban condominium, you have at least 514 options to consider.

That’s how many units are up for sale, according to a new survey of the region’s urban condo market. The report from T.L. Metzger & Associates LLC, an Albany real estate brokerage, also says 161 condo units were purchased or reserved in 2007.

Both numbers represent a dramatic change from years past, when buyers looking for a Capital Region condo had few units from which to choose. But 2007 seems to have been a year when the area’s condo market finally blossomed.

When shopping for an apartment or condo, it’s very effortless to get so jammed up in the decor and amenities as well as the facilities that you fail to notice the security issues. Though security might be the very last thing on a renter’s mind when searching at apartments, it’s by and large one of the main reasons a renter chooses to time off.

According to real estate brokers, it doesn’t matter how many amenities that your property can provide. There are people who are still conscious with their safety. Being a smart and well-informed renter is the beginning. One should know the safety features of the property that he is buying or renting.
